TFG invests in the next generation of talent

Through education and skills development, TFG is shaping South Africa’s next generation of talent. We recently welcomed students from our bursary and fellowship programmes for a two-day visit to our Cape Town operations, offering insight into our business and career opportunities in retail.

Supporting higher education is a key part of our corporate social investment (CSI) commitment, driven through three flagship programmes:
  • Elliot Osrin Bursary Scheme: Supporting students, typically at the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
  • Clive and Philip Hirschsohn TFG Bursary Scheme: Providing financial support and practical retail experience to UWC extended BCom students.
  • TFG Data Science and Leadership Fellowship: Aiming to develop 100 data science graduates by 2030.
During their visit, students connected with TFG leaders and experts from Customer Platforms, Rewards, HR and Financial Services, exploring how data, technology and innovation drive our business. They also participated in networking and career development sessions.

Maliska Rabe, a fundraiser and art therapist at the centre, says using a computer is a basic skill for a lot of people. ‘But for many of our patients it is something completely new, and it makes a world of difference to their confidence,’ she says.

Beyond financial support, these programmes connect education with real-world experience, helping young South Africans build skills and explore future careers.

We are proud to play a part in shaping the next generation of talent.
