Safe-Hub is a space that helps young people thrive from “cradle to career” by providing programmes ranging from early childhood development and after-school sport to job readiness, digital skills and entrepreneurship courses.
Apart from learners recruited from the St Vincent School for the Deaf, the factory also takes in learners through the Sizwile Deaf Organisation based in Soweto, and other deaf communities across the region.
Totalsports is the main funder of Safe-Hub Alexandra, which opened in 2021 and provided services to 15,092 young people in 2024 – up from 8,114 in 2022.
Totalsports’ mission is to make sport accessible to everyone, regardless of where they start.
“At Totalsports, we’ve always believed that sport has the power to change lives. The Safe-Hub in Alexandra is proof of this – it’s more than a field or a facility, it’s a place where young people gain confidence, opportunity and hope for the future,” said Jonathan Stein, Totalsports Head of Business.
There are numerous success stories among the 50,000-plus young people Totalsports has supported through its partnership with Safe-Hub since 2019.
Totalsports cares about its communities, and Safe-Hub is levelling the playing fields for young South Africans.
